What is Pimsleur?

Pimsleur is a popular and effective audio method to learn another language, focusing on the primary skills of listening & speaking.

What I like most about Pimsleur is the ability to study a language and do something else at the same time. For the 30-minute duration of each lesson, I just put on my headphones, and as I learn a new language, household chores and exercise routines seem to go by faster and become easier and more enjoyable.
I’ve studied Pimsleur Level 1 in several Asian languages just prior to travelling (including Vietnamese, Thai and Cantonese), and used those languages to great effect in the respective countries: better connection to locals, asking directions and ordering food, and more. Several friends who I have recommended the method to have also found it useful.
In short, I find this method gets you talking fast, and is a good springboard to then continue to in-depth study of a language using other methods like Fluent in 3 Months.
